I keep bouncing back and forth between and on Android because they're both *excellent* third-party apps for Mastodon... But I find each leaves me wanting. Fedilab clearly has a superior engine behind it - it streams new toots automatically (no "Show More" button every so many toots), supports multiple accounts in a seamless way (particularly love being able to long press on an interaction button and be given the choice of which account to perform the action from), but the actual timeline display is... Less than great. So much wasted space and thumbnail pictures are displayed weirdly (though it does fetch media much more reliably). On the other hand, Tusky's timeline feels much more polished, visually appealing, and compact... But the cross-account interaction leaves a lot to be desired (i.e. if I am viewing a toot from my main account but want to favorite it from my AD account, I have to tap the toot to open threaded view, tap the menu button, select "Open as <other account>", interact with the post, then switch back to viewing from my main account) and then it won't even remember where in my timeline I was reading from, sending me back to the top of my feed instead. And I've come to hate that "Show More" button too since it relies on a "reading direction" setting in preferences to know which way to expand new toots instead of inferring it automatically from scrolling direction.

I wish I could have the best of both worlds here!

And here's what I mean about image previews being displayed weirdly in Fedilab vs Tusky... It appears to want to crop the pictures to maintain a specific vertical height by default. Tusky is the first screenshot, Fedilab is the second.

@baralheia Man if we could get something like or F#edilab's front end, 's feature completeness and ' ability to actually handle a shitty connection, we'd be cooking with induction.

AFAIK regarding "Show more" the team is working on it...

@nick @BalooUriza They are, and they're also supposedly working on a similar cross-account interaction feature too. I hope it works the same way Fedilab's does (or at least really similar). Hopefully those two things will finally pull Tusky above Fedilab for me. As it is, they're both really good, but both have a few quirks that result in me not feeling like one is better than the other, currently.
