1953 coup supported by BP/UK/US installs autocratic Shah regime.

1978-9 islamic revolution removes shah, installs theocracy.

1985-87 Iran Contra affair. The Reagan administration illegally sells arms to Iran to fund their illegal war against Sandinistas in Nicaragua.
