Well my server is officially two years old and I want to give a huge thank you to @mastohost for making a lot of this easier on me!
Also since it's about two years some of my purging rules should start taking effect and hopefully shrink my database size from when I bloated it by getting a little too relay happy.

I think my Mastodon server size in terms of resources should be relatively stable now that I have a good handle on what all I needed.

I really like the grouping of likes and boosts with the new Mastodon upgrade. It makes my notifications feed FAR less cluttered. Now if only we could get that full support for federated blocklists we can subscribe to officially built in rather than Ad-Hoc that would be amazing.

Wow end of this month will officially mark two years that I have been on Mastodon and running my own server. This past August marked one entire year since I last posted to Twitter. While I don't plan to return to twitter, I can't rule it out completely as a content creator. But with myself also being active on BlueSky and Threads as well, mastodon is by far still my preferred platform.

Big thanks to @mastohost for making this easy to manage.

I am not a fan of the algorithmic way of Bluesky versus Mastodon and the Fediverse. It’s feeling more like a Twitter clone than trying to be its own thing. It still feels incredibly centralized because federation and decentralization felt like lower priorities when they should have been the initial one. Otherwise you basically just repeat Twitter and a lot of their problems.

There are only two messaging apps I fully endorse when people communicate with me. @signalapp and @matrix . Yes while I use Discord, text, and even iMessage. The recent stances from both Matrix and @Mer__edith towards the EU Chat Control proposal's even as an American, reaffirm that I have made the wise choice.

The fact that I have proven first hand the that we had to whitelist Signal in Zscaler to even work because it won't allow MITM, proves even as a hosted app it can be trusted. #Infosec

I am considering reducing my content retention settings to 1 year temporarily and shooting it back to two years in an effort to reduce my database size.

I need to check on the hosting bill for @mastohost as I feel it's about due.

Just a casual reminder to support your server admins as we pay out of pocket for this. I know my Mastodon server is my most expensive in the entire stack but it's still worth it to me.
