My mind has been blown.

In "A Tour of C++", Stroustrup reminds the reader that type casting is called "cast" so that you know it's a crutch, to hold something broken together.

With English not being my first language, I grew up discovering "casting" and thought of it as a magic trick as a young teen.

Over the years, I also discovered the use of "cast iron pans" and "orthopedic casts".

I never again thought about type casting; it was a term of art by then. But of course it's still a metaphor

Modern #CSS is really fun, actually.

I'm updating old CSS files that used normalize.css and modernizr base styles, IE6 (!) shims, and #SASS-built grid layouts with floats.

CSS grids are amazing.

Flexbox is a huge help for stuff in boxes that needs to be laid out.

Viewport width/height allows for responsiveness on the pixel level, not just breakpoints.

I'm having a blast!

Sobald @bfdi das BMFSFJ zu Mastodon einlädt, würde ich ja glatt melden, dass man ewig lang Publikationen in den Warenkorb packen darf, aber beim Checkout dann Bescheid bekommt, dass Bestellen nicht möglich ist und man den Warenkorb auch nicht sehen kann.
