Something no one talks about enough:

CPU cycles aren't free.
Memory reads and writes aren't free.

That shit takes power. A miniscule amount per instance, yes, but it adds up quick if it's from an app that everyone uses constantly. All that power comes from somewhere, and right now that's mostly fossil fuels.

When people complain about software bloat, it's not just a UX problem, it's an environmental one too.

The concern over "data privacy" should be reframed as being about digital surveillance.

Like, making sure the data is secure and anonymized or whatever isn't as much of an issue as every fucking organization in the world trying to track every goddamn thing I do all the fucking time.

I don't understand why the fuck anyone thinks this is okay. I mean, I do (money), but it's fucking insane.

To anyone who is involved with the hiring process for a technical position: dear god, don't ask the candidate to solve a problem on the spot. You're shooting yourself in the foot and missing out on the best people.

Simulate the actual skills you need in the role. You want people who can think carefully and solve real problems, not a chatbot that can write code as fast as possible.

Can we just stop using Discord and go back to using forum sites?

I realize it's (comparatively) super easy to set up, but y'all realize it's just going to bite us all in the ass as soon as someone at Discord decides they need to turn up the profit ratio?

It's a ticking time bomb. The whole thing is going to follow the enshittification process, and anything of value on there is going to be lost/sold/destroyed.
