With *any* religion, there is always going to be a group that decides that their interpretation of things is more correct than other people's and that it is their sworn duty to force their specific beliefs on others. And that third group that is "harmless" typically enables them, sitting back and doing nothing to help or even participating in more subtle ways. |

Föderation EN Mo 04.11.2024 22:12:25 @nazokiyoubinbou @DrGeraintLLannfrancheta @dfs_comedy @TLisaB This dynamic is not specific to religion, of course (see splits within modern ideologies). Nor is it true of every religious group. Labeling "religion" as "the problem" is just the same dynamic of identifying a false viewpoint that must be eliminated. |
Föderation EN Mo 04.11.2024 22:15:05 @christinkallama @DrGeraintLLannfrancheta @dfs_comedy @TLisaB There is a key fundamental difference that is the reason I specify religion. While it is true that other, more secular things can also apply this, there is one key difference: other things can adapt. |
Föderation EN Mo 04.11.2024 22:39:41 @nazokiyoubinbou @DrGeraintLLannfrancheta @dfs_comedy @TLisaB Well said, though I'd add that this doesn't apply to just (organised) religion. Much can be said on when imaginary communities are joined willingly, and when under threat of repercussions. |
