I discovered when I graduated from Computer Science I prefer people to programming.
I do stuff with @librecast a #HumanRights project masquerading as a FOSS project. Trans Rights are Human Rights.

Föderation EN Fr 13.12.2024 10:50:59 @Framasoft are doing their annual fundraiser so that it can fund it's existing 2025 planned budget. For 20 years they have been working together to create alternatives to google, but also encouraging others to host their own services. For their existing services they need to raise 200,000 euros. But imagine if there was enough to do even more. These are the creators of @peertube and so much more. https://soutenir.framasoft.org/en/ #FossSustainability #fundraiser Here's to another 20 years! |
Föderation EN So 08.12.2024 13:19:30 I really enjoyed reading this @APC interview with @Pouhiou . @peertube is an enormous undertaking. The team is very small, yet many of us post video and livestream on the #fediverse using Peertube. I find myself in agreement with many of the points brought up in the interview about politics and the mechanics of community with how we appeal to the general public. Also that we need to listen to their needs. https://www.apc.org/node/40437 Peertube is one of the projects funded by @NGIZero |
Föderation EN Mi 04.12.2024 16:21:53 Ooh The EU is looking for some experts in Internet #Governance Specifically #DNS @ngi just posted about it Who do we know? |
Föderation EN Mo 04.11.2024 15:35:44 @canongatebooks I'm not an author, but I think you've asked a good question for those who've stayed on twitter. Thank you for posting it here. My project (software) used to have a twitter account. We took the decision to shut it down in 2022. We knew we'd be shutting out people still on there. But with Musk and the toxic nature of the network we knew it would be limited for us anyway. I've found interaction on here gives a better quality of engagement. Which I hope you also find here. |
Föderation EN Di 17.09.2024 14:25:04 @Cherrywaylen go follow @FediTips the account has a guide for how to use mastodon. Welcome to the fediverse. |
Föderation EN Do 12.09.2024 15:56:25 At a time when The EU is seeking to cut FOSS funding to funds like @NGIZero Perhaps we need to ask the EU to fund smaller, more communal projects, rather than seeking to create Unicorns. "The report highlighted how 30% of EU startup businesses that had grown to be valued at more than €1bn – known as unicorns – had moved abroad, and mostly to list on stock markets in the US." https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/sep/09/eu-mario-draghi-report-spending-boost |
Föderation EN Sa 20.07.2024 11:45:03 @nixos_org are calling for help with planning #SummerofNix 2025. Are you curious about #Nix do you want to find out more? https://discourse.nixos.org/t/help-wanted-planning-for-summer-of-nix-2025/47556 |
Föderation EN Di 16.07.2024 13:24:12 Last week @hackstub made many of the folks in #ngizero funded projects aware of the fact that there was no space in the 2025 budget for @EC_NGI funding. This will be a threat to #fosssustainability for many of us working in Europe in #FOSS. @nlnet and @NGIZero has funded many #fediverse apps and other awesome software for the commons. @ow2 has published an English language version of the open letter that @ps published last week. https://www.ow2.org/view/Events/The_European_Union_must_keep_funding_free_software_open_letter Consider signing. |
Föderation EN Fr 29.03.2024 15:41:08 The best way to preserve the fediverse is to provide support to it. Pay your instance admin if you can, if you can't boost their fundraiser posts Pay the developers who develop the software you use on there if you can. If you can't, boost their posts and help them fundraise. Also pay the projects non Dev folks. Because they help Devs to focus on the code while they do community development, moderation etc. It's an ecosystem and we can't rely on the whims of VCs. |
Föderation EN So 24.03.2024 13:57:46 On any online space, you should consider who you give power to. Who has the control over who you choose to associate with? Power doesn't corrupt. It reveals. People in real life do choose to avoid dangerous or toxic places. All that the instances who sign the fedipact are doing is signalling to some of us that somewhere is safe for folk who don't want to engage with Facebook at all. This is a Freedom of Association issue, not a Freedom of Speech issue. |
