Ok, so I've loved since it was in Beta testing but it's decided it needs to sell its soul to AI loving VCs. Yuck.

I like for the most part but the base makes me suspicious.

A lot of websites recommend but--I mean, WTAF? It's a crypto scam run by a TERF. JFC.

What are folks using?

@philip_cardella I totally understand you. I’ve been using Vivaldi (the “lesser evil” dilemma).

@philip_cardella

Been testing Falkon myself, it is Qt WebEngine which ultimately is also Chromium, but unlike other Chromium based browsers is more resilient against shareholders capture?

I still haven't moved all my stuff to it, for all sensitive stuff I rather keep using Firefox for now, but for most light browsing it's been fine

@philip_cardella I’m using Firefox and I don’t think it’s selling its soul. You won’t have AI if you don’t want to and the translations’ AI is only local (but still pretty good!), if you want to use it.

I consider the integration of ChatGPT etc. only half-baked and I don’t think it will gain traction. AI boys will use Opera or Arc or whatever trendy new browser there is.

@philip_cardella Firefox on desktop, Brave on mobile (due to Android and Brave being the only browser able to block all ads, Vivaldi does not cut it).

@tizmic crypto ads plus terf owner. I just can't with brave. And any company promoting crypto I don't trust.

@philip_cardella I went through the same transition, and ended up with . They say the right things about , have a ton of options, and really solid email and calendar clients.

Concerns about aside, my experience has been that there is less friction getting it to be the browser I want it to be, because it offers choices, rather than imposing them.

@philip_cardella

I use Librewolf (a hardened fork of Firefox) on desktop and Iode Browser which is the browser that comes with my OS, IodeOS, which again is a hardened fork of Firefox.

@PenguinBlue I didn't know there were forks of Firefox out there. Good to know.
