refugee

I'm an old biddy, retired, interested in science, sci fi, humour, cute animal videos, real ale, good food all the usual stuff

Sadly of late I've become rather political as my Government seems intent on destroying my country & I hate politics

LGBTQ+ ally, atheist/humanist if you're religious that's OK

Religion is like a penis, it's OK to have one & be proud of it
But don't thrust it anywhere without an invite by someone old enough to understand what it is

Note

Don't put @ twitter.com in your post if you want me to see it

Deletion

Toots die after 6 months unless I bookmark them so screenshot if you really want to keep my drivel for some unknown reason

Career

40 odd years in IT, Software Dev Eng, IT Manager, Self Employed IT Spod, Oh & spent a year as a security guard when the company I was IT manager in went bump

You know why twitter gets millions of views a day?

Well on top of the normal user traffic, damn near every online news organisation includes links to tweets in articles

Every time someone reads one of those articles, twitter gets a view

If there are multiple links, twitter gets a view for each link

The more views twitter gets, the more ad revenue it pulls in

I realise advertiser's are fleeing twitter in droves, 'cos Nazis, but maybe we should ask online news sites not to fucking link to it

@FediTips Hi sorry to bother you

Do you know the answer to this or do you know who I should ask

If I use Tusky on my phone it tells me I've muted some instances

If I look using a browser from my PC it tells me I've blocked the same instances

Now if I look up, say, Potus I can see the account despite blocking threads.net

Which makes me think that threads.net & all the others I thought I'd blocked are just muted

So does blocking an instance actually block it so they can't see me or me them ?
