One of the reasons Right to Repair has become such a battle is that it would give you full ownership of devices like that telescreen. With full freedom to replace the OS, with one that doesn't spy on you for corporations and feed you commercial propaganda.

Honestly, how could advanced technological civilisation survive if we all actually owned the stuff we paid for?!? : P
