The newly published @w3c #CandidateRecommendation "Device Posture API" allows #WebApps to request and be notified of changes of the posture of a device #timetoimplement

Device posture refers to its physical position, detected via sensors. With foldable devices, understanding posture is key for responsive design, especially when the device isn’t fully flat.

🆕 @w3c launches the Private Advertising Technology (PAT) #WorkingGroup

Motivated by the @tag's Ethical Web Principles, this group aims to define web features and #APIs that support advertising without compromising user #privacy. The group will produce specifications for user agents, building on work incubated in the #CommunityGroup.

🆕 @w3c has launched the Sustainable Web #InterestGroup to create guidelines and best practices for addressing #sustainability challenges in digital technology affecting both people and the planet.

Drawing from the SustyWeb #CommunityGroup’s work, the group will release the Web Sustainability Guidelines (WSG) 1.0, designed for end-users, tool developers, educators, and policymakers.

Last month, we celebrated three decades of @w3c and the incredible global impact of its web standards.
In this talk, @tink reflects on the past 30 years, especially her many encounters with the W3C. She concludes that the true accomplishment isn't the standards and specifications, but the incredible people of the Web community she has had the privilege to work with.
