During my time at Opera and now at Vivaldi, we have made a lot of browsers. I asked you which ones you had tried and you really had tried a lot of them:

There are likely quite a few you have not tried, though. Some of the others we made include:

- Opera on a Fax machine (really!).
- Opera on a fridge.
- Opera for airplane infotainment systems.
- Opera on Tivo (for menus).
- Opera on various TVs and DVD players (for menus mostly).

Now my focus is on Vivaldi and we will continue to add stuff you like. Enjoy!

"If an app asks for Android permissions that it doesn't rightfully need (like screen recording permissions for a BMI app), deny it; who knows what kind of things the app can harvest if you allow it?"

Huh? Don't install it in the first place! Because, "who knows what kind of things the app can…" 🤦‍♂️

Of course, if unsure, reaching out to the devs for clarification is fair. But make sure the answer is reasonable.

#CalyxOS has released its January #security update. It hit all of our Pixel 6a phones yesterday. The changelog was pretty short and just reads:

#Google Starts Tracking All Your Devices In 6 Weeks—Forget Chrome And #Android

Long story short is that Google has made updates to its advertising ecosystem essentially _permitting_ the fingerprinting of devices for use in targeted advertising. In their words they are going to be “less prescriptive with partners in how they target and measure ads.”

Doesn’t mean fingerprinting wasn’t happening before, just that Google is giving the green signal to the rest of the ecosystem to do so… and will likely use this to maybe replace third-party cookies.

Use an adblocker. Seriously.
