Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 19:40:44 @3dcandy Just take a look at /r/mastodon... facebook defenders everywhere. |
Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 19:41:16 @SiteRelEnby I have never ever visited reddit |

Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 19:42:26 @3dcandy literally the creator of #ActivityPub @evan (who ironically when Musk just bought Twitter called all users there "evil" while people were just trying to use a social media channel) |
Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 19:45:21 @tanepiper @evan as I don't follow him either I haven't seen it.... like I said not seen many who thought it was a good thing. I choose not to follow lots of people like that |
Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 19:54:41 1. I'm not the creator of ActivityPub. It's a group effort, by the W3C Social Web Working Group, with leadership by Christine Lemmer-Webber and Jessica Tallon as editors. 2. I don't remember calling everyone on X evil, but I do think using your social media presence to support such an unfair employer is a bad thing to do. If you have some context, I'd be happy to answer to it. 3. I don't know anything about the API at Threads. But it's their API, so their rules, I guess? |
Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 19:55:23 @tanepiper @3dcandy I'd definitely recommend either using an ActivityPub platform with an open API, like Mastodon, or even better using platforms that support the ActivityPub API, which is an open standard. |
Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 19:56:27 @tanepiper @3dcandy I'm credited as the 5th author on the spec. I was the co-editor of Activity Streams 2.0, where I did a lot more work. |
Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 19:58:40 @tanepiper @3dcandy I'm also not sure how great I feel about mass-download API clients, which it sounds like was the point of those cease-and-desist letters. It's definitely a touchy subject for a lot of people on the fediverse, as we saw with Maven just this week. |
Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 20:05:18 @tanepiper @3dcandy finally, do you not think it was weird that Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk were going to have a physical fight, and it was literally over ActivityPub? I still think that's really bizarre. |
Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 20:15:26 @evan @3dcandy You sort of did - https://prodromou.pub/@evan/109587320708151526 |
Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 20:18:05 @evan @3dcandy Some of us have long memories #Fediverse Medien: 2 |
Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 21:12:32 @tanepiper people hate when that happens! |
Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 21:48:17 @janl Yes, and they don't reply after that either - I noticed the same when I called him out the first time. |
Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 23:00:39 @tanepiper this is a creepy, threatening thing to say to a stranger. I'm blocking you now. |
Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 23:10:18 @tanepiper @evan @3dcandy People are allowed to change their opinions over time as situations shift, details change, and new perspectives come in. Iβm constantly interrogating my own biases and adjusting to new information. Iβve totally said things in the past that I would say today I was 100% wrong about. I would argue that itβs healthy. |
Föderation EN Do 13.06.2024 22:58:59 @tanepiper @3dcandy I looked this over and I still agree with the remaining posts. (I still disagree with the statement in the poll, too.) I think there's a difference between saying an action is wrong, like supporting an evil company, and saying that 'all users there [are] "evil"'. I think my post makes that pretty clear. So, no, I don't think I said all Twitter users are evil. |
