We just released Mastodon 4.3.7 and 4.2.20 and 4.1.25. They contain a few minor bug fixes.

Note that this will most likely be the last Mastodon 4.1 release, and 4.1 will be unsupported in 6 days, so we highly advise you to update if you run it.

Full release notes and update instructions are available on our GitHub release page: github.com/mastodon/mastodon/r

@MastodonEngineering why doesn't spell check work anymore?

Föderation EN Mi 02.04.2025 17:55:51

@Lizette603_23 @MastodonEngineering can you explain where spell check is not working, is this on the web or in an app? what device / platform are you using?

Föderation EN Mi 02.04.2025 17:57:06

@andypiper on the web. PC chrome. It worked up til about three weeks ago.

@Lizette603_23 ok, thanks - strange! Will ask whether anything changed in our code.

Föderation EN Mi 02.04.2025 20:45:11

@Lizette603_23 really strange, and sorry that you're experiencing this issue. We think it may be a change in Chrome or Windows - unable to reproduce here and we don't do anything in the Mastodon code related to spell check. Frustrating, I know!

@MastodonEngineering I only use Mastodon on my laptop. Since joining in Dec of 2022, I've never done an update. The language used in these instructions is foreign to me, and from reading, I can't tell if this update is something I need to do, and, if so, I don't understand the instructions. Do you have any guidance? 🙂

Föderation EN Mi 02.04.2025 18:16:14

@PattyHanson You do not need to do anything, this is for your server administrators to handle, and as you are on mastodon.social, everything is already up-to-date!

@MastodonEngineering Thank you for responding. I really appreciate your time. 🙂

@MastodonEngineering

Dear Mastodon Engineers, please at least consider giving simple tools for users to totally block posts with sensitive content (and make these options activated by default for users with no account) and for admins to auto-ban outside servers which host sensitive content, if they wish so.
