I pulled down from the Release notes: ""Quoting other people is not implemented yet, and it is currently not possible to mark your own posts as allowing quotes. However, a new “Who can quote” setting has been added to the “Posting defaults” section of the user settings. This setting allows you to set a default that will be used for new posts made on Mastodon 4.5 and newer, when quote posts will be fully implemented."" |

They would need to update their implementation. As for being a niche advanced feature, it's being said the ability for most people to use that feature to create quote post would come in 4.5 |

Föderation EN Mi 04.06.2025 17:05:27 @jerome This is correct, Mastodon supports quote posts implemented as FEP-044F, which require a compatible server implementation that can provide a proof that the quoted person approved the quote post. Right now, no server implement this (yet) but we know that some will do so soon, and Mastodon will in 4.5. @FinchHaven @andypiper @individual8 |

Föderation EN Mi 04.06.2025 17:57:03 "Carousel slides are the way pinned posts will show up in user profiles on the web in 4.4.x" I'm assuming (always a bad idea) this will be in any web browser tab-based presentation of any instance running > v4.4.x -- which I guess is what "on the web" means (Presently Firefox 139.0.1 (64-bit) on Ubuntu here) Other older instances will still present Pinned Posts as always Don't really care about any "apps" nor have I ever bothered chasing the "app" of the day |
