Lithium fires burn at 2000 F and cannot be easily put out. Lithium does not burn through combustion, as carbon-containing fuels do. Trying to douse them with water only exacerbates the fire and can lead to explosions. And the lithium salts in the batteries are self-oxidizing, which makes them prone to reignite. Lithium fires can produce a variety of toxic gasses, such as Hydrofluoric acid, Hydrogen cyanide, Hydrogen chloride, and Sulfur dioxide. Residents living as far as 20 miles away have been experiencing metallic tastes in their mouths, burning eyes, burning throats, and yellow residues all over their things. The fire’s been going for six days and only now has Governor Newsom decided to launch an investigation. Vistra makes batteries for Tesla. This was the fourth fire at the site since 2019. #fire #california #tesla #musk #pollution #environment #toxic #lithium |

Föderation EN Fr 17.05.2024 16:24:31 Today in LGBTQ History, May 17 is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). This date was chosen to commemorate the 1990 decision to remove homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases of the World Health Organization (WHO). In 2009, the WHO added transphobia to the name of the campaign, and organized activities that year to highlight and end. The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness of violence, discrimination, and repression of LGBT communities throughout the world. #workingclass #LaborHistory #lgbtq #transphobia #homophobia #biphobia #who (Medien: 1) |

Today in Labor History March 16, 1995: Mississippi finally ratified the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, banning chattel slavery, 130 years after it was officially ratified by the U.S. in 1865. However, Mississippi never formally notified the U.S. archivist of its belated decision. In other words, the 1995 ratification was unofficial and did not legally count. It would not be until February 7, 2013, 148 years later, that it would make its ratification of the amendment legal.
