My parents placed all the interesting books on the lowest book shelf in an always easy to get to place in the library. Yes, we had a whole room dedicated to book storage and desks. The guest bed was a Murphy bed that had shelves with doors that could be closed to keep the books on them when the bed was lowered.

They also kept mine and my brother's medicine cabinets stocked with condoms.
