But, yes, mastodon.social vs X is more of an apples to apples comparison technically speaking. And yet, thank goodness we have many other options, up to and including running your own instance where you make all the rules (without being able to compel anyone to listen to you, or course, as other servers can ban yours, which is as it should be) :)
