Heh, I feel a shift in servers coming on 👀
I've outgrown this one by way of having a few other accounts on here that I also use, and it's ramped up my database usage to the point I needed to pay for a larger plan.
So instead of one higher tier plan, I will have two lower tier plans. This also allows me to move to a more fitting domain name too (where my blog will be! 🥳 )
I'll be sticking with @mastohost of course, it's been nothing but a great experience 💚

It's my own fault really as I keep posting pictures and for a while I had a few relays setup 😅
I think the database levels should level off and be stable once I split this account away from the others :)
Edit: The pictures was impacting media storage 😅 But I think because they were often cute pictures of our cat, that would spread and make more connections impacting the database? Maybe? I'm guessing 🙃

@christian yep, cat pictures are the worst 🤣 joking but it may have some impact.
Still I would guess that the relays you used probably have a larger impact. If you want me to run ‘tootctl status remove’ that should delete unreferenced posts from the relays.

@mastohost Ooo perhaps 🤔 would that be of benefit now though as I still plan to break away one account onto a new server? (new domain name vibes)
My plan would be to move this account off onto a new server I buy; then once this one dips below 50% database, drop to a lower plan.

@mastohost I've ended up on a Star plan which is recommended for 100 folk, and I'm just 3 accounts 😆
So I will be testing with two Planet plans 🥳

@christian Well, the account move will not reduce the database size. In your case most of the posts are likely to be cached from remote accounts that federated with your server for one of several reasons:
- relays
- people you follow
- replies to posts from people you follow
All of that is copied to your database and will not be deleted unless you set a content retention but that has consequences, see https://masto.host/mastodon-content-retention-settings/ for details.

@christian So, even if you moved the 3 accounts to a new server, the database would be pretty much the same.
Still, like I mentioned `tootctl status remove` would delete the posts that are unreferenced from the relays.
If you want me to run that, let me know. Probably the easiest is to email me requesting it, so we can keep in touch during the process over email because that can take a while to run.
