Zu den Protokollen fragst du lieber die Experten hier, bevor ich was falsches sage und wieder einen auf den Deckel bekommen...
Ich weiß nur, dass die meisten ActivityPub verwenden, ja. Aber es gibt auch noch einige andere Protokolle wie Zot, das von Diaspora usw.

Ich weiß gar nicht, ob diese Schnelligkeit unbedingt an dem Protokoll selbst liegt

Neee, das hier ist alles ActivitiyPub als Protokoll

Friendica, Hubzilla, Streams udn Forte sind da noch breiter aufgestellt, die sprechen noch ZOT, Diaspora, Blueskys AP und noch mehr Protokollsprachen.

Wenn etwas schnell geht, dann ist es die interne Verarbeitung von Nachrichten und wie sie ins System kommen
