We used to look closely at Usability/UX. Not anymore.

Meta is enshittifying WA to become a social media app, charging companies for access to followers, showing ads, and pushing AI slop down the throat of billions of people.

remains all about pleasing private messaging UX. Resilient, secure and decentralized. Its trivial to get started as a family, group or little org. Its trivial to migrate between android, iphone, desktop, Ubuntu touch.

Better look at Telegram UX. It's much better than WhatsApp, even though it has simillar issues.

@timursagdenov sure, we actually from the get-go look at telegram UX. The very first android version in 2017 was a fork of Telegram but their open source code was pretty horrible, so we rebased on Signal on Android, and then reintroduced many UX improvements to not loose too much of TG UX.

@delta @timursagdenov what about forking Telegram codebase and replace the messaging logic to use deltachat, removing or disabling features that are not supported by the delta protocol

@delta I think it's cool that many alternatives exist.

But I still don't get the use case of delta chat and unsure if using email as the underlying transport mechanism is really such a good idea on the long run.

So I actually prefer matrix, but since both approaches are decentralized I think it shouldn't be a problem to build bridges between. Therefore no reason for anyone not to use delta chat. 🤗

@feyter Matrix arguably has a different UX/UI focus than WhatsApp/Telegram (both morphing to social media and AI chat bots though) and Signal/Delta/ (both refusing AI shenanigans) but indeed, when it comes to decentralization, there is some overlap between and but then again also fundamental differences.
