Föderation EN So 03.11.2024 14:51:40 PLEASE RT THIS SO AMERICANS RESIDENT OVERSEAS LEARN OF A LITTLE-KNOWN WAY TO VOTE ABSENTEE AS LATE AS ELECTION DAY!! I’ve mentioned here before how my Texas absentee ballot was, erm, never received by the Tarrant County Clerk. I gave a call to the always helpful AARO - Association of Americans Resident Overseas - and the always helpful staff there told me of something that, in 17 total years of living abroad, I never knew: The US Federal Government provides what AARO refers to as an “emergency absentee ballot”. It is available online at https://www.fvap.gov/. It is good for Service members, their families and overseas American citizens. You download the ballot, enter your personal information and your state, then the candidates for federal elections like President/Vice President, Senator, Representative; and even state offices you wish to vote for. Print it out, follow the instructions. Go to your local post office and depending on your state, when you have it postmarked by Election Day it will (purportedly) be counted. Spell everything correctly. Be clear. Type if possible (the ballot may be filled in on your computer. Sign with a wet signature. Use the page provided to construct a security envelope. Put that in an envelope addressed to your district clerk (find it online). Vote. |
Föderation EN So 03.11.2024 15:18:56 @fuzztech Will this be subject to the same county clerk & election coordinator dickery as the regular ballot? I received an email that my signature doesn't match the signature on the ballot request form well enough, so they sent me another form to provide another sample signature. I assume they'll just keep asking for more signatures til the announcement is made. |
Föderation EN So 03.11.2024 15:27:32 @Linza Unclear. I assume it WILL be subject to the same bullshit. But because it is a federal ballot it bypasses some of the rigamarole I had to go through in the two months of trying to get my Texas ballot received by me, filled, and returned. |
Föderation EN So 03.11.2024 15:29:27 @fuzztech Depending in your state you MAY be able to file by fax or email. If so, use the coversheet, and don't forget to sign both the ballot and the waiver of confidentiality. |
Föderation EN So 03.11.2024 15:57:38 @feonixrift I’m a texas absentee voter so unless I fax over blood and stool to go with it electronic is out. |
Föderation EN So 03.11.2024 16:00:44 @fuzztech Yeah sometimes it feels like a boon to only have to sign in ink. :/ Hope it all works out. |
Föderation EN So 03.11.2024 16:03:20 @feonixrift Thanks! I tooted earlier about the Tarrant County clerk, refusing my absentee ballot application application because I used a digital signature on my emailed form as opposed to printing out the form signing it “with a wet signature“, scanning that, and then emailing that. I am glad that the Nind fraudulent applications to the Texas election will be blocked, though with tens of thousands of legitimate ballots also being blocked I suspect the juice may not be worth the squeeze. |
Föderation EN Mo 04.11.2024 02:59:05 @feonixrift @fuzztech I filed by fax from Mexico for Arizona. |
Föderation EN Mo 04.11.2024 06:53:00 @farbel @feonixrift That’s awesome. Texas does not allow it unless I am military AND in a combat zone AND sent through an official fax machine if you can believe such a thing exists. - Hard copy by mail, or common or contract courier (like any other ballot by mail) |
Föderation EN So 03.11.2024 18:11:53 @fuzztech Please vote. |
Föderation EN So 03.11.2024 18:12:06 @fuzztech Please do not vote for Trump. |
Föderation EN So 03.11.2024 18:18:37 @perrygrossman Dude. Tell people to vote. |
Föderation EN So 03.11.2024 19:54:33 @fuzztech Fortunately, their attempts have all failed... so far. 😐 |
