Finished V2 of the truncated icosahedron, and I'm very happy with how it turned out. The sides are 32 hexagonal and pentagonal PCBs, joined by 3D printed corner connectors and covered with 3D printed diffusers. The pixels are mapped and it's running 3D animation patterns on a .

More fun today. Just now caught @wizard and @alpenglow having a BYOB (Bring Your Own Breadboard) kaffeeklatsch with a musical circuit schematic.

Carrie and Ben holding breadboards and instructions for building a musical circuit while sitting next to each other on the floor and on a beanbag.

From now on, I am calling my dietary preferences "flight training."

I've become obsessed with this cleverly designed articulated mannekin build (printables.com/model/622290-du) and am printing a cohort to use as place card holders for Thanksgiving.

Four small articulated dummies 3D printed from different colors of filament, posed as though they are seated in a tabletop with their arms around each other's shoulders.

The recent flurry of sewing projects has come full circle. It started with a crossbody bag that looked like an addressable LED (mastodon.social/@geekmomprojec)
Today I sewed a zippered tote bag (no electronics, but still cute) that looks like a standard LED. I think it's all out of my system now. Maybe.

A view of an open red zippered tote bag shaped like a standard LED.

A red home sewn tote bag shaped like a standard LED, with iron on applique that looks like the interior electronics of a through-hole standard LED. The strap of the bag is connected where the LEDs legs would attach.

Got my rainy day activity lined up for the afternoon. Inspired by @alpenglow 's adorable WS2812 pillow (on right in images), I sewed my own version as a crossbody bag that can convert to a mini backpack. Today's goal is to install a controller and functional LEDs into both projects.

Two fabric representations of a WS2812 addressable LED resting on a table. The left version is a square crossbody handbag with a webbing strap and white iron-on pattern of the front surface of a WS2812 LED. The right version is a small square stuffed pillow with a zip-on casing. Both the course and pillow are about 8 incheson on a side. Between the purse and pillow are two small XIAO microcontrollers and six actual WS2812 LEDs to be attached to the fabric counterparts.

The same image as the previous picture except the crossbody bag has been flipped over to show the four D-ring attachments on top and bottom that allow it to be converted to a mini backpack.

Same as the other pictures but a hand is holding the bag open to show a purple fabric lining.

My LED Orb project that I wrote up for @makemagazine is currently on the website with no paywall at makezine.com/projects/orb-sess if anyone feels like tackling a fiddly, challenging, time-consuming project with a really cool end result! I'm very proud of the design as well as the very high pun-to-word-count ratio in the article.
