No, New York Times, Zelensky's "style" is not hurting Ukraine. Trump is hurting Ukraine, shaking it down like a mob boss and selling it out to his master, Putin.

[New York Times headlines]

Fair or Not, Zelensky Is Angering Trump. Is His Style Hurting Ukraine?
Through three years of wartime leadership, Ukraines president has mostly played weak hands wisely. But his approach has fallen flat with the Trump administration.

Too right! I was quite schocked when I saw this headline in the NYT. is this bothsidism taken to new extreme?

@gleick Angering Trump is unequivocally a good thing. In all cases and contexts.

@gleick and to be honest hes been incredibly tolerant of Trump and I have been really impressed by how he had been dodging saying bad stuff when everyone else not a Trump cult follower was ,but once Trump blamed Ukraine and started spouting Putins propaganda there wanst any diplomatic way around it ,Denmarks EU representative told Trump to literatly F off ,on the floor of the EU parliment within a couple of days of him taking office and theres been more of the same from other leaders

I saw that this morning and it jumped out at me, I thought how shitty. Do the editorial board really not see this? They regularly do these editorial pieces where they lambaste T.Rump, but then they post this kind of garbage.

I also just hate headlines posed as a question.....

@sleepy62 @gleick

The answer is simple. AG Sulzberger's NYT is complicit. It got him elected. Why would they stop shilling for him now?

@gleick the NYT continues to be a disgrace to journalism, on all fronts. πŸ™„πŸ–•

@gleick
If, no thanks to the Times, we somehow survive this polycrisis era and we don't all wind up dying in camps, I hope to God everyone remembers the wretches who did this to us and to the planet. I hope none of those people can ever make money as journalists again. To think, the Times did all this in living memory of the same paper normalizing Hitler. AG Sulzberger and Joe Kahn in particular should be shunned for life.

I was really thinking of the whole boiling of them, but yes. Name names. Edited.

@MaryAustinBooks @gleick

Sorry, wasn't criticizing your post. Just adding the observation that these decisions are made by people, not institutions. The institution serves as a shield to the willful support and obedience of one man who sets the editorial policies, AG Sulzberger. Certainly, reporters, if they want to retain their jobs, toe the line, but this policy of support and appeasement comes from the top.

@mastodonmigration @gleick I didn't take it as criticism, just a reminder of that conversation we had about naming names. And I think you're right.

Another great example of AG Sulzberger's New York Times carrying water for this administration that he worked so hard to install.

@gleick I can only warmly recommend writing directly to the NYT again and again! I sent them a long email explaining what I understand by quality journalism (I'm a journalist myself) - at the same time as cancelling my subscription.
The more people protest directly, the more it will be heard. (And yes, falling subscriptions are seen).

@gleick Being a smart leader, carring for your people annoys dumb, selfish wannabe-kings. But how's fault is it? It wasn't Zelensky who voted for idiocracy.

They're a propaganda machine.
