I've just enjoyed this fascinating conversation between @firesidefedi@social.firesidefedi.live and @stefano@bsd.cafe, where the latter explains how he planted the seed of the incredibly friendly, great and extense community that is the BSD Cafe. Open source, owning you own data and the importance of interconnecting people is talked about here. Of course, Stefano also talked about https://fedimeteo.com/, his great project that makes weather information available to the whole Fediverse; this makes me, as the developer of (one of the pieces of software that operates Fedimeteo), also a bit proud of being a part of.

As Stefano says, "you can't describe passion", but you can feel it from his words.

@grunfink @firesidefedi Thank you, I’m really glad you appreciated it. Fedimeteo exists, in its current form, thanks to snac, because I don't think any other solution would have allowed me to achieve a similar result on a €4 per month VPS.
There's an anecdote I've never shared before. At the end of 2023, I discovered snac and started using it. I wrote something (I don't remember exactly what) that didn’t work very well, or at least wasn’t suitable for my needs. You replied and asked me "don't give up", and, in no time, you found the solution. At that moment, I realized that snac was a great project because behind it there was a great person.

@stefano @grunfink Absolutely LOVE this. I've said it before and I'll say it again, MANY times I'm sure, the reason that the Fediverse is going to last forever and continue to exist is because of folks like yourselves. :-) <3

I'm not sure to remember it, but I think that listening to users is the only way to write successful and useful software.

I'm glad you didn't give up 🙂
