When the "Real ID" act, a relic from the early 21st Century's War on Terror, takes effect next month, we will see many such "mistakes." Peope who aren't carrying the new national identity papers will be detained and sent to concentration camps in other countries.

@heidilifeldman I’ve started carrying my passport more often. Not fascist-proof, but they have to disappear the passport at the same time. I’ll worry more about that when they start carrying hole punches to invalidate passports.

Even though it shouldn't be necessary, a $65 US Passport card that is the same size as a driver's license/RealID is something everyone should carry.

Funny how all the freedom and liberty types who took to the streets at the idea of vaccine passports for entry to certain locations are now nowhere to be seen … who could have predicted this perplexing development?

@heidilifeldman I think "ordinary" Americans have to ask themselves if their boss would tolerate them not coming into work for a week or more without notice and without vacation time accrued. They might find themselves fired for that.

@heidilifeldman this is horrible either way, but have courts weighed in before on whether he has any recourse here? Is it actually a dejure requirement to show ICE papers if they ask, not merely defacto?
