· Föderation EN Do 17.04.2025 17:35:11 @douwe I'm wondering which statistics @andypiper uses for the claim "There is very strong adoption of the fediverse in the Netherlands"? I suspect that Andy uses the number of Mastodon servers that are hosted in the Netherlands. That's relatively higher because of the good internet infrastructure. I don't think that the fediverse isn't that much supported by Dutch people as Andy thinks. What I see over the years is that Dutch people are conservative considering their choice of social media. Many of them tried for example Mastodon, but most of them went back to the existing big-tech social media or are now on Bluesky (big-tech in sheep's clothing). Compared to e.g. Germans, the Dutch are relativity not very active on the fediverse. I really wish they were. Hopefully it will change again for the better. |
Föderation EN Do 17.04.2025 19:16:53 @joeneXtra @douwe one thing to note is that I *also* stated that this was an outside observation based on instances and people I am aware of, and that we visited to learn more - so, thank you for this additional context! I had no statistics on this point. |
Föderation EN Do 17.04.2025 19:25:05 @andypiper Thanks for your reply. Than my assumptions were correct. We really need to have more reach-out in the Netherlands (and Belgium) to make sure more people are joining (and stay). Thank you also for visiting the Netherlands. Hopefully it will have some positive effects. |
Föderation EN Do 17.04.2025 19:32:31 @joeneXtra @douwe Iām hoping to come back soon; I definitely want to support folks discovering, revisiting, and continuing to be a part of the Fediverse! Thank you for your support. We encourage these changes together š |
