Big Tech threatening countries that want to regulate them in this way is just not OK.

We have as a company engaged with regulators over the years and I have the utmost respect for their integrity and courage.

@jon Zuckerberg learned in Myanmar that there were no consequences to enabling genocide. In the Philippines he learned to monetize authoritarian mass murder, and even though the journalist who uncovered his role recieved the Nobel Peace Prize, it still didn't hurt his business model.
Does he really think Putin will let him live after he delivers Europe?

@jon
Can we draw a long term lesson as well?
Reliance on cetralized (reason for it becoming big) tech, instead of helping decentralized locally owned tech has been a fundamental mistake. No amount of regulation lipstick can hide fundamental issue.
Is it an "I/they told you so" moment?

@jon we should just have 1 regulation : if owned by a US corp : it's banned based on data-privacy concerns - we can't trust Eu data under US "rules" - only way to keep it running is to sell the EU part 100% to a EU company (just like tiktok in the US) and this Eu company cannot use any partners that are not EU companies with infra and services in the EU. Fining these fascist-enabling US companies is not enough

@jon It should be pretty obvious by now that there needs to be excellent European alternatives to everything that these mafiosos provide and every entity funded with tax payer money should be encouraged (legally) to use those platforms wherever possible. From facebook to aws, all the way down to operating systems and preferably down to the silicon level.
