Vivaldi now has Proton VPN built in our versions for Windows, Mac and Linux. Time to get away from Big Tech!

Enjoy!

@jon @Vivaldi That is so freaking cool ❤️

Föderation EN Do 27.03.2025 13:19:26

@jon amazing! This is great news and a welcomed new feature!

Föderation EN Do 27.03.2025 13:19:41

@jon @Vivaldi I was already enjoying a browser with no VPN ads 😕

Föderation EN Do 27.03.2025 13:27:29

@jon @Vivaldi I love both Vivaldi and Proton, but I'm a bit worried if that collaboration isn't creating a new tech giant.

Föderation EN Do 27.03.2025 13:39:51

@jon Is it just the free version, or can I log onto my premium to use my other choices? @Vivaldi

Föderation EN Do 27.03.2025 13:46:22

@jon @Vivaldi doesn't Proton and Yen support Trump? Isn't this going to be a problem?

They also just stopped using the Fediverse for being called out for this. It just feels like a badly timed partnership.

@jon @Vivaldi Doesn't work. I'm getting error messages, that the server couldn't be reached, yet I was asked to log in. I entered my Vivaldi account credentials and got an OAuth error

Föderation EN Fr 28.03.2025 11:17:32

@Ketakater

Are you asked to log in in a tab or in a dialog that appears in the middle of a browser window?

Depending on your preference, you should log in to either your Vivaldi or Proton account in a tab that opens when you click on the relevant login option in the VPN menu.

If you see a small dialog overlapping your other tabs, that's a bug. Please let us know if that's the case.

Föderation EN Fr 28.03.2025 14:30:26

@Vivaldi Was a temporary glitch it seems, works now. Thanks for getting back to me

@Vivaldi I can "connect" to a VPN server now, but if I do, I don't get any traffic through

Föderation EN Do 27.03.2025 13:54:59

@jon Why did you chose to incorporate a VPN in the browser and why Proton? Will you integrate also other Proton services like email?

Föderation EN Do 27.03.2025 14:10:24

@zbrando , adding a VPN was one of our most popular request from users. Adding one our selves would be a significant outlay and finding the right partner for a service like that is not easy. Thus we are very happy to have teamed up with Proton.

Our focus is on the VPN. You can, of course, use your Proton Mail with Vivaldi, through Proton Bridge.

Föderation EN Mi 02.04.2025 20:38:35

@jon @zbrando Any articles or how-to-do-that about that?

Föderation EN Do 27.03.2025 14:30:28

@jon @Vivaldi I'm very disturbed by this. Both in that you all seem to be cramming more non-browser features in and that you picked proton of all companies. Going to have to seriously think on whether I can in good conscious recommend Vivaldi anymore.

Föderation EN Do 27.03.2025 15:02:25

@jon @Vivaldi Nice work on that partnership.

Föderation EN Fr 28.03.2025 00:24:16

@jon @Vivaldi I will not give money to Proton's CEO, Trump's bootlicker.

Föderation EN Mi 02.04.2025 20:45:48

@jon @Vivaldi Uninstalled. Don't want my info handed over to the police because someone decided being ecologist/LGBT+/not a fascist was a serious crime.

Föderation EN Mi 02.04.2025 20:49:44

@jon @Vivaldi - this is problematic to me given some recent toxic messaging by Proton's CEO. I continue to wish that Vivaldi would fully open source its code as well. Thanks for your consideration on these two issues.

Föderation EN Mi 02.04.2025 22:16:06

@jon @Vivaldi This is nice. Does Vivaldi have plans for private tabs with Tor? If so, does Vivaldi wish to help the Tor network by running fast Tor exit nodes?

Föderation EN Mi 02.04.2025 22:20:04

@JoeBecomeTheSun @Vivaldi

We have no plans for Tor support at this time. That may well change in the future, but currently no plans.
