My personal opinion is that #Meta joining the #Fediverse will be a net positive. Primarily due to the mainstream attention the Fediverse will garner.

It's a lot to think about surely, but to my mind, #ActivityPub was always meant to facilitate two things: Decentralization and interconnectedness. All while preserving the ultimate freedom which is the freedom to disassociate. It was never meant to prevent Facebook from pursuing their corporate interests. They're going to do that no matter what.
