With recent versions of Vivaldi (currently at 6.7.3329.39) YouTube became unusable without Premium or a different ad blocker.
Not only is the ad blocker no longer working for YouTube (for quite some time now), but way worse: at least for me the "skip" buttons are also gone, so ads appear to be unskippable while it seems it's just Vivaldi which is causing this. Yay for 3 minutes Hero Wars ads.
Are you aware of this?

isn't vivaldi chromium as well? perhaps it's manifest v3 already? Have you tried firefox?

ah, so you meant with the vanilla adblocker only. Never without ublock :)

YouTube is constantly tweaking things to prevent ads from being blocked on their site.
You could check in Vivaldi's Tracker and Ad Blocker settings > Manage Sources whether the lists are up to date and optionally enable additional/different lists.
