Fact-check the hare and tortoise race? Stories are useful learning tools for people to see a situation from another point of view - often one that doesn't threaten them in the same way as a more on-the-nose narrative involving them directly. This might be a description of events that really happened, but it serves a useful purpose none-the-less. |

By the bye, the first time I spoke in public, outside a classroom or small meeting with coworkers, someone requested an ASL interpreter. Everything was going fine, and then about halfway through I caught a glimpse of the interpreter--signing MY words! I got totally distracted! Had to pause, apologize, and double-check my slide to find my place again. Totally worth it. The audience was cool. |
