"We worked hard to get the language in shape for version 1.0, and then locked it down with a compatibility guarantee. Given what a dramatic, documented effect that made on Go's uptake, I find it puzzling that most other projects have resisted doing this. Yes, there's a cost in maintaining strong compatibility, but it blocks featureitis and, in a world in which almost nothing else is stable, it's delightful not to have to worry about new Go releases breaking your project."
