One of my least favorite tricks is when reporting by a site (like, say, ) only ever has links to other pages on the same site, never to the things that they are discussing. I'm reading an article about the Hue ecosystem adding support for and there is not one link to Philips, just to other reporting on the Verge.

is a good example of how to to this well; in an article on Ozempic, they link to primary sources multiple times.

@offby1 the difference is the intention behind it i guess.
a) you want to keep the users on your own site.
b) you want to inform your users properly, even if this means they leave the site (okok, you can open a link in a blank page too).
