Föderation EN Di 25.03.2025 07:46:10 Ah, Komoot has been acquired by the same private equity group which previously has destroyed what was left of Evernote, WeTransfer, MeetUp and many other sites. Bye bye, Komoot. |
Föderation EN Di 25.03.2025 09:03:59 @osma I was wondering the other day what had happened to meetup. Didn't realise it had been acquired. I went back on it after not using it for a few years and seemed to have gone quite a long way downhill. Just endless nagging to buy a premium account. |
Föderation EN Di 25.03.2025 09:10:48 I'm at the point where I don't know of interesting events (because they're advertised on Instagram only) or when I do know of them, can't sign up (because they're restricted to Meetup only) -- and I don't really care any more. Can't be THAT interesting. |
Föderation EN Di 25.03.2025 09:48:50 @osma Same. There was a comic con in my city a few weeks ago that I hadn't even heard about till I saw people wandering around in cosplay on the actual day. Everything feels fragmented and walled off. |

Föderation EN Di 25.03.2025 13:43:01 Thanks, that's really interesting. I think we should all be increasingly wary of getting involved in new platforms owned by private companies. This ALWAYS happens. |
Föderation EN Di 25.03.2025 10:06:28 I spent a few minutes hunting for an account export function on Komoot without finding one. The heck with it, their privacy officer email is datenschutzbeauftragter@komoot.de - the email to send is a GDPR Data Subject Request. Komoot is/was a German company and their acquirer, serial enshittifier Bending Spoons is Italian. Goes to show that it's not sufficient to just be European. |
Föderation EN Di 25.03.2025 12:00:34 @osma ah, the embrace of death by Bending Spoons 😞 |
