Föderation EN Mo 12.05.2025 12:50:55 I'm thinking about removing the Local timeline from the default set of tabs when you login for the first time. On most servers I suspect it's a firehose most people don't drink from. New users may be better served with Trending Posts and maybe Trending Links in the default tabs. The Local timeline would still be accessible from the main menu, and it's one tap to add it to the tabs. Your existing accounts would not be affected, only new accounts. |
Föderation EN Mo 12.05.2025 12:51:58 It also makes it less likely that new users will be inadvertently shown unmarked sensitive content, leading to a better initial experience. Anyone have strong arguments against? |
Föderation EN Mo 12.05.2025 12:52:34 @pachli Probably a good idea. |
Föderation EN Mo 12.05.2025 13:49:45 @pachli Sounds good to me, I almost never use it, but can obvs. not speak for others. |
Föderation EN Mo 12.05.2025 14:09:50 @pachli local timeline is trash, mostly, unless you are on a small specialistic istance. Your solution looks better than what rhe majority of local timeline will look like to a newcomer. Could it be interesting to propose to choose a couple of hashtags to follow? |
Föderation EN Mo 12.05.2025 12:59:12 @pachli Probably a good idea. A cool solution would be to look at how active the local timeline is on account creation, and if it is too active, ask the user if they want to have it shown. |
