@ploum Perhaps open source projects of Mastodon's importance need a press liaison to help with media kits and press releases so that journalists can have the "easy tools" within reach that they are used to.

@canadaduane @ploum We (Mastodon) have a press mailbox and reply to any people reaching out to us.
We do nit have a presskit, but this is a good idea. Not sure what should go in it, do you have any recommendations?
For press releases, unfortunately it costs a lot of money to pay a PR firm to send those .

@renchap @canadaduane : Press releases are basically simply pre-redacted articles sent to journalists. The only advantages of PR firms are their network. It could be done inhouse by writing something serious and sending it to a list of journalists that you find manually. Less efficient but less expensive. And, in the long term, you can build your own network.

But, yeah, this is a nearly full-time job.
