@Codeberg I'm a little perplexed: codeberg.org is the first email sender that I'm aware of to ever fail sending email to our mail server. It seems to be unable to establish a TLS handshake, even though we support all common TLS versions and ciphers...

@evan I was wondering, when you add E2EE DMs to (and/or an implementation of it) in some way, will you keep future extensions for account and data portability in mind?

If done right, having client-side keys for one thing can already get us most of the way to other things, like e.g. signed activities (see codeberg.org/silverpill/feps/s)...

Just stumpled upon this new method, and I think this has a chance of working, because it's based on the Mainline DHT that BIttorrent uses:

Hey and devs: is anyone aware of any specs, proposals, or discussions regarding the announcement of multiple different profiles for different activity types in Webfinger JRDs?

Would be amazing if we could use the same user address to point to different URLs for profiles for micro-blogging, photo sharing, book reviews, etc..

With Discourse being in the middle of building full federation support and GitLab finally planning to integrate ActivityPub as well, it seems to me like the protocol has reached critical mass. We're witnessing the change from a wait-and-see attitude to platform projects and companies fearing a loss of relevance if they were to stay siloed forever.
