The frequency of the dreaded “Too many requests” error around here is making me reluctant to participate. Obvious conclusion being the architecture no longer supports the traffic, and technical leadership does not strike me as sufficiently mature to handle the influx. I will miss all of you. Any last ditch suggestions to try?

@rdela when I had this issue it turned out to be a browser plugin + many open tabs. It was spamming requests in my tabs. It was a user rate limit not the server.

@moh_kohn in my case I am typically on my phone using @ivory by @tapbots on the flagship @Mastodon instance. I have funded Mastodon gGmbH in the past and offered to help with fundraising/development on their Discord, to no avail. My assessment remains that @MastodonEngineering has its priorities askew.
The issue does not seem more common with Ivory (ugh, terrible name) than other clients. There were no results for this search on DuckDuckGo, for instance.

@rdela Would you mind opening a GitHub issue with more details, including your account, so we can have a look at it?
We never got reports about this, and this message happens if your IP is rate-limited because your instance gets too many requests from it, which is not expected to happen under normal usage. We did not get any other reports about this, maybe @tapbots can chime in as well?
