I don't want to create a mastodon account AND a loops account AND a pixelfed account AND a lemmy account. Why can't I just have @res260? :( If AP steals one idea from #ATProto, it should be this. |

Föderation EN So 13.04.2025 23:49:24 @res260 we have a structure where different services can post activities to the same account. Ask your software provider to support the ActivityPub API, also known as "client to server" or C2S. It solves this problem! |

Föderation EN Mo 14.04.2025 00:53:22 @res260 because of a cultural Fediverse thing. People started off trying to make servers that simulated existing commercial services: Fediverse Twitter, Fediverse Instagram, Fediverse YouTube. So they made servers that only handled one kind of data or activity. On top of this, Mastodon already had a "better" API when it implemented ActivityPub, so it stuck with it and never implemented the ActivityPub API. This also spread the incorrect idea that the ActivityPub API wasn't good. |
