@Landsil @mos_8502 How could you tell? 😅

Certain levels of hate can only be achieved by doing things like maintaining a Windows XP box in your network room to host an HP monitoring app that tells them when toner goes low...

We live, we learn, we never ever again sign management contracts directly with printer manufacturers.

"And if an engineer's tie got caught in a drum printer they had about 10 seconds to scratch out a message to their next of kin before they choked to death.
AND THE PRINTER WOULD KEEP ON RUNNING!"

There is a much older BOFH article (from the early 1990s) where a service engineer's tie got caught in a drum printer, but I found this more recent one first.

That post was a wild ride 😂

Chapter 12 (1992):

"Now the second engineer only has to come out after another 4 hours, there's no death of engineer penalty clause, (but I'm thinking about asking for one) so I've got to fill in some time. This guy's going to be a technical engineer, the sort that comes in with a raggedy tie where he got it caught in the drum printer at 3000 rpm a couple of years ago, and he'll have the grazes on the face that indicate that he didn't get the gate open in time."

@dec23k @Landsil @mos_8502 Ah, I miss the BOFH. I used to have a 'BOFH Excuse Generator' on my Palm Vx (natch)
