New people moved in the appartement below us, a young woman and 3 kids

Sometimes her ex-bf or babyfather I don't know comes over and just now they had a massive fight

He was drunk and assaulted her so I stept in and kicked him out her home

Let's see if he keeps his promise "of coming back this week" lol

He's an "ex"-criminal that likes playing with weapons so there not a faster way to get the police over when you mention that

I don't give a shit who you are, domestic violence is a no no

Föderation · Do 22.05.2025 22:52:14

Is that a thing in NL ?

I remember in the US hearing people scream at the top of their lungs was ... normal, but in France it is almost unheard of, I think 2 cases I heard in 10 years living here.

Föderation EN Do 22.05.2025 22:52:53

@cjd I dont accept that shit 😉

Same if i see someone assault a pet on the street, they're going down no matter what

Föderation · Do 22.05.2025 22:54:53

I was just curious if it is a common thing out where you live.

I'm very happy with French culture in this regard because it seems almost nonexistent here.

Föderation EN Do 22.05.2025 22:56:23

@cjd Oh sorry!

Well yeah ish

I live in a very very crappy niehgbourhood that kinda impacts my mind..

Last week we had police twice in our street and there's only about 20-30 houses

Föderation EN Do 22.05.2025 22:55:17

@stux Good for you but be extra careful!

Föderation EN Do 22.05.2025 22:56:32

@stux

Oh no such a bad sad situation. . . is this the apartment where the elderly couple lived?

Föderation EN Do 22.05.2025 22:57:10

@FallsMom Exactly!

They moved here from the Amsterdam but kinda took the city life with them

A lot of issues with police and such

Föderation EN Do 22.05.2025 23:02:43

@stux

I've been watching a tv series I *think* is in the Netherlands, "Sleepers,'" has a lot of city life, corruption.

Föderation EN Do 22.05.2025 23:21:20

@stux

Coming back as in primarily threatening you or "I do what I want I can come back whenever I feel like it"

Föderation EN Do 22.05.2025 23:23:09

@crichardson Definitly the first one 😉

Föderation EN Do 22.05.2025 23:45:05

@stux

Sounds like a bruised ego, but you never want to underestimate violent morons. Hopefully she doesn't allow him inside....

If this asshole is violent, he may try to break into a residence.

This may be out of scope:

Security -
If your landlord doesn't throw a fit, a front door can be hardened-
* Grade 1 deadbolt
* Lock strike plate (ideally a 4-screw, with 3 inch screws to get in the studs) but make sure the frame does not need to be modified to fit the strike plate if opting for one.

Föderation EN Fr 23.05.2025 00:12:03

@crichardson Yeah, Ill keep an eye out, even more then normal :blobcatgiggle:

We told her that she can call and yell anytime for help and ill come down

Föderation EN Do 22.05.2025 23:36:12

Now that I think of it, most of the fights I've been in was because other people where in an unfair-fight and I chose a side

I guess because since the Netherlands is relatively safe where one can do this without getting killed

One of the things that frustrates me a lot are those videos where something bad is happening to someone and people are just moving alone

I understand it's not safe to offer help in any country but it still hurts to see

Föderation EN Do 22.05.2025 23:37:55

Back in the days, some collegues went to
Saudi Arabia for work and they saw an accident happen but they where told to keep driving and act like you didn't see

Otherwise there was a big chance they (police) tried to blame you for it since you're an easy target as a foreigner

I'm not sure I can do that..

Föderation NL Do 22.05.2025 23:38:55

@stux my parents had the same experience. In Russia. They found it very disturbing.

Föderation NL Do 22.05.2025 23:39:11

@ZuilenV Goes against every bone in the body

Föderation NL Do 22.05.2025 23:39:44

@stux exactly that.

Föderation NL Do 22.05.2025 23:40:12

@ZuilenV For now we're just trying to avoid such places at all

Föderation EN Do 22.05.2025 23:44:24

@stux yikes, added that to the long list of reasons why i will never visit saudi arabia

Föderation EN Fr 23.05.2025 00:15:19

@jakeyounglol yeah, after many years it's still in my head..

Föderation EN Do 22.05.2025 23:42:47

@stux Hearts to you for helping her and stepping in. Has she reached out for help? I used to do volunteer work for legal aid for domestic violence. It's very complicated. Especially where there's a child involved. :( Be safe and hearts to you again.

Föderation EN Fr 23.05.2025 00:16:20

@nomdeb Thank you ❤️

Yeah, she's under watch already with child services and such.. she's trying to avoid this I guess but it doesn't seem to work out

We only spoke a few times since they moved in

Föderation EN Fr 23.05.2025 00:03:48

@stux Good on you. Just keep an eye out behind you (shadows are handy to alert you of someone sneaking up) until he's gone.

Föderation EN Fr 23.05.2025 00:40:03

@stux
Thanks for your bravery and willingness to keep peace in the neighborhood. We're all in this together.

Föderation EN Fr 23.05.2025 23:45:08

@stux you did well. But be careful…

Föderation EN Sa 24.05.2025 00:37:46

@stux custody disputes where one partner is obsessed and violent are awful, and it's hard to know if intervening helps. Had something like that happen many years ago where one of my neighbors was trapped in the parking lot with her kid while her ex screamed at her. I ran him off and he came back a few nights later, pounding at her door wanting to be let in. Called the cops and stood there filming until he ran off. A few days later, he kidnapped the child. Eventually she got the kid back but :-(
