I received an employment agreement from a company in TX that had acquired a startup I worked for.

I had to inform them of my political leanings. And my household's. I had to agree to never work in the industry again if I left them. I lost all rights to all IP in the past and in the future in perpetuity, including that of my wife and kid. There was a lot more.

I was told, "just sign the agreement, this is all just semantics, it isn't legal."

This ruling is why I don't sign those kinds of agreements.
