Today is the anniversary of the invention of the World Wide Web in 1989 by Tim Berners-Lee.

W3C has continued to expand on what the web does by our mission to make the web work, for everyone. We bring together global stakeholders to develop open standards that enable a World Wide Web that connects and empowers humanity.

@w3c

I recepect w3c, but these days its more about what makes the web work for big tech companies, than it is about 'making the web work for everyone'

@w3c If only there hadn't been the absolute corporate led missteps of HTML5, and allowing ECMAScript to be part of the web standards - saying nothing of this new WASM nonsense.

Google and other profit-driven groups should not be allowed to destroy the Internet standards.

@w3c

This has made a lot of people angry, and been widely regarded as a bad move

@w3c Since 1994 I have marveled, enjoyed, learned to write, used and depended upon, and cursed at what @timbl hath wrought.

Overall, exponentially more beneficial than not, imho.

Congratulations and thank you Tim!
