@nazgul I spoke to a Facebook developer in 2017 at a UX conference and he acknowledged this, adding that to him it was a great feature. He was amazed at the pushback he got, mainly from European developers at that conference. (GDPR had not even come into effect) The rationale for implementation back then was lousy mobile internet coverage in many places in the US. Privacy or infosec principles were just butchered in favor of UX.
