Some unexpected good news. The technical implementation of the European Digital Identity Wallet was not put for a vote in the Council of the EU. This means that the original timeline to offer the Wallet to EU citizens no later than November 2026 will most likely not be met. This is a blow to the attempts to withhold important privacy safeguards and water down protections enshrined by the EU legislator.
