Not many people know this, but Mastodon has a built-in official post scheduling system which can publish posts at pre-arranged times and dates.

Unfortunately there's no official interface for the scheduler yet, so you have to use a third party app to access the scheduler. These third party apps let you use it:

Android: Tusky, Fedilab, Moshidon & Subway Tooter

iPhone/iPad: Mona

Would you like Mastodon to ask you for confirmation before boosting or deleting a post?

If you're using Mastodon's website or web app:

1. Click ⚙️ Preferences
2. Scroll down to "Confirmation dialogues" section
3. Tick boxes for things you want Mastodon to ask confirmation for
4. Click "Save Changes" at bottom of screen

If you're using a mobile app, go to its Settings section (often marked ⚙️) and it should have many options for different kinds of confirmation warnings.

Mastodon's "Advanced Web Interface" lets you pin several hashtags in a single column:

1. Search for a tag
2. Click ⚙️
3. Click "Pin"
4. Click ⚙️ again
5. Toggle "Include additional tags for this column"
6. Enter multiple tags in any of the three boxes, depending on how you want them to affect what the column shows.

"Any" shows posts with any of its tags
"All" shows posts with all of its tags
"None" hides posts with any of its tags

Do you use the "Please Caption" bot to remind you to add image descriptions? Some updates about it:

1) It has just changed servers, its new account is:

➡️ @PleaseCaptionBot

If your follow hasn't transferred automatically, follow it at the new address.

2) There was a problem transferring the bot's follows list. Even if you're following it at the new address, you should unfollow it and re-follow it in order to trigger the bot's follow back. Follow backs are needed for reminders to work.

Is your main timeline too busy? Does it feel like you're following too many accounts?

You can use Mastodon's "Lists" feature to create themed mini-timelines, and then hide those accounts from your main timeline. That way your main timeline becomes calmer, and when you want to see a particular topic you can dip into one of your themed Lists:

This is especially useful if you're following news accounts as they tend to post a lot of stories.
