So here's EU_Commission's VP Vera Jourova speaking that the regulation is designed to break encryption. Mass, untargeted surveillance. Oh and by the way, the European Court of Human Rights has a verdict that untargeted encryption breaking is illegal.

The fact that regulation proposals are possible (and can pass!) without having to pass a test for legality or technical feasibility of legal implementations is wild.

The European Commission actually has an internal Regulatory Scrutiny Board, which warned of the violation of the EUs fundamental rights general monitoring prohibition:

Its not that DG Home / Commissioner Ylva Johansson and Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wouldn't have known. They just chose to do it anyways.

Yeah, I know. The part that's wild to me is that they *can* just do it anyway, the part where they do it is less of a leap.
