This pops up every time I open my @Tuba app on 24.04. I'm pretty sure I've see it on other apps too. Is there any way to get this to auto-login? or is that some horrible security breach I should not do?

@ateriath @Tuba I get around it by making the password for my key ring an empty string. If they break in to my house and turn on my pc, I really don’t care that they have access to my fediverse accounts.

@ateriath Hi!

It should unlock automatically when you unlock your user. If you have automatic login enabled then unfortunately, AFAIK, the only way to skip this is to disable keyring encryption. If you don't have that enabled, then you are probably going to have more luck in the Ubuntu forums

For context: apps use the keyring to securely save secrets on your machine. Tuba saves your token and some other info. If the keyring has a password, then they are going to be encrypted. By default, that

@ateriath password is set to the user one and the keyring gets unlocked when you unlock your user. But if it wasn't setup correctly, the passwords 'desynced' or automatic login is on, then it won't be unlocked automatically.

To disable the password/encryption, open "Passwords and Keys" (seahorse), right click the default keyring on the sidebar (usually named "Login"), select change password, input the current one and leave it empty when prompted to pick the new one!

@ateriath Security wise, it depends on your threat model. Can other people access your computer? Are there other users? And so on...

@Tuba Yea, I do not have automatic login enabled. I have to log in normally, then type in my password again when I start Tuba.
