@pfefferle I still have a problem with attachment post types. All uploads are instantly federated or they never are, if the Activitypub’s media post checkbox isn’t checked. Permalink, alt-text etc can’t be set before upload. What is the trigger that publishes in federation? Changing dates did'nt do anything. I have 3000 attachment posts that I can't publish in Fediverse unless I upload everything again, but they would still be missing alt-text etc and have bad permalinks.

@pfefferle My sites idea is to be a leftist tolerant media bank with pics 1/10 size but top quality. I have cropped and removed compression artifacts and remade old and new JPG:s and PNG:s, tagged each pic. Next im adding alt-texts to all that miss them. Media was supposed to be found in Mastodon.

@bhasic I will check tomorrow, but I am not sure there is a solution to this, because attachments have no states. They are published when you upload them…

@pfefferle Thanks for answering, I'm sure you have a long to-do list. But these problems will happen to anyone who wants to share photography etc. so I think it would be good to solve them.

@bhasic sure, but your usecase is a really special one… all other WordPress users (that are using the plugin) want to use Media in their Blog-Posts only…

@pfefferle So far. There are a lot of photography people that will want to be in Fediverse, when they hear of it. Media Library Assistant has a lot of users for example and it is made for serious mediastuff.

@pfefferle No, they use galleries made with MLA. And from gallery there is only attachment post page. Even if it could direct to article/page post, it's just another useless step to show the same thing. Anyway it can't direct to articles, I asked.

@pfefferle I have some multi-image cartoons that have to be as article post. Had to make a thumbnail in MLA gallery and with another plugin, custom link for thumbnail to article page. MLA is only extension to WP's media handling and it just has to be that way, because of WP. With other media-plugins, it's up to them to work it out, but in my case, problem would be the same without MLA and it's really a WP and Activitypub issue.

@pfefferle Some kind of manual trigger to make old attachment post new and publish? Add option to make uploads draft instead of inherit and a publish button?
